FAQs-Can I download data from the OmniPod?

The PDM (Personal Diabetes Manager) has an IR (infrared port) that can be used to download data. Comments in other forums report that the software can be obtained by contacting Insulet directly.

I Have a device called pathfinder that I got from Insulet that requires Excel 2003 or greater and XP that you can download 4 days worth of data.

What type of data is downloaded off of the OmniPod? Is it just BG's, bolus amounts, etc. or does it have graphs and such for interpretation?

I just received the Pathfinder system, had the IT dept help me download. When I email the download to my CDE, it appears encrypted to her. Anyone know how to resolve this?

You can download 5 days of detailed data including BGs, suggested bolus, actual bolus etc. It's formatted in a spreadsheet with 1 tab per day, plus a summary. Each day shows BGs in an hour-by-hour graph, and the summary tab graphs 7 and 14 day trends.

It all looks really nice, but, honestly, I don't find it that useful. What I want is a data dump that lets me average my BG before each meal, mid-morning, mid-afternoon, etc. The download from the Omnipod isn't in a format that you can do any of your own analysis. Perhaps the new PDM will offer that.

I called OmniPod support today and they said that the next generation PDM will be available "in June", that they have "offers" on their web site now to let people sign up to get them, and that the new one will work with new software that will run on Vista.
